I’ve been helping a client shop for some great pieces for her home and I recently came back to a favorite district that I hadn’t visited in a while. So where is this low-key spot in Los Angeles for great vintage finds? North Hollywood! Specifically on Lankershim just past Burbank Blvd.
A search for a beautiful vintage Mastercraft brass coffee table lured me back to NoHo (it’s been ages) and after a couple of afternoons spent shopping around, I’m spilling the beans on this vintage shopping district. For starters, the prices are insanely cheap compared to other vintage shops in Los Angeles. I picked up the brass coffee table for my client for $350 including delivery. Mastercraft coffee tables usually go for $2,000 (here, I searched that for you)!
North Hollywood has a lot of great home decor and design shops such as Midcentury LA and Practical Props, but Antique or Mid Century Row is still under the radar and the spot to go for unique pieces and super low prices. The shops sell at various flea markets on Sundays and most of them are on Chairish if you prefer to shop online.
Most of the stores are open Monday through Saturday from about 11AM to 6PM. Do call ahead to make sure they are open since they do open a bit later sometimes. Be prepared to dig through piles of stuff, but don’t be afraid to ask if you’re looking for something specific. The shop owners are helpful and will pull out items that are hidden away.
