Living Room Refresh

I did a thing. That thing is I decided to update our living room a bit while our renovation was dragging along! I know, I know, it’s probably not the best idea to start a new project while a big project isn’t completed; however, I needed something that I knew I could quickly finish to ease my nerves.

I’ve always kept our dining room a bit more monochrome, but have experimented with color, prints, and textures in our living room. I like having a space that is soothing and calm, but I also need lots of loud prints and color in my life! You know this is true for my wardrobe too! Our style generally skews mid century modern because of our home, but I always like to add a ton more character that skews glam and bohemian. I’d say this is a more bohemian glam living room than mid century modern, but I still love it. I find when you go 100% in one style, then the final product is a bit too generic and expected. I don’t like anything I do to look basic, so that’s why I always add some different elements and styles. Another trick for decorating any space is to add that unique touch and personality through vintage and thrifted items. Most of the items in our living room are vintage or thrifted and that is what gives it that unique flair. It also keeps it from looking like every other space on Pinterest or Instagram!

Now onto what I actually changed…. While we loved our old sofa and living room, Alan and I wanted a different sofa that was more comfortable and a bit larger. We don’t watch a ton of TV, but when we hang out together for a family movie, we wanted a sofa that we could all fit on comfortably. I also want something that’s pretty to look at, which sometime outweighs the importance of comfort. I’m happy to share that I found a sofa that is both comfortable and pretty to look at, plus I was able to customize it to my preferences thanks to Interior Define. You select the sofa style, then can customize with your choice of fabric, legs, size, cushions, and ottoman. I appreciate Interior Define’s approach to design since it allows people to build their dream furniture at a fraction of the cost, plus since they’re not just producing furniture on spec, I think it’s a bit more sustainable.
