The Shopping List No. 37: Celine Macadam Bag

I recently shared my vintage and second hand designer handbag collection and everyone wanted to know how I find my bags so cheap and how I can shop the trend before it’s so popular. Second question first: as we all know, trends are circular so even if something isn’t trending, I know it will be soon enough so I shop what styles I love rather than what is trending at the moment. Now onto the budget and how I find designer bags for less. Most of my bags were purchased many years ago, well before the vintage and second hand market grew exponentially so you could say I bought at the right time. For items I’ve purchased more recently, like my Chanel belt bag, I researched a lot and practiced patience. Many vintage bags especially belt bags tend to be smaller so they don’t fit modern phones which are huge. I did a ton of research to find the exact style that would fit my iPhone 14 ProMax. I also utilized the saved searches and alerts on eBay and Fashionphile so I was notified as soon as the exact bag I wanted was available.

Now moving on to my latest obsession, the vintage Celine Macadam bag. If you’re following the trends, the Celine Triomphe is all over the runway and on all the fashion it-girls. But you know I’m not spending $3k for a bag, especially one that everyone has! Instead, I’m looking at vintage options that have a similar look, for wayyyy less (think $300 for a bag)!

The Macadam collection is inspired by the streets of Paris – this is the name of the flooring materials laid in 1854! It’s a beautiful print that is on a limited run of vintage pieces, so it’s a very unique and rare find. It’s also a great alternative to the LV print that may be too logo heavy for many people.
