The Shopping List No. 38: Sequin Moment

So we’re all obsessed with that cream sequined and beaded jacket I tried on at the flea market (see highlight here). I left it behind because it was overpriced. Before I left though, I checked the tag and realized it is Laurence Kazar, a designer known for sequin and beaded dresses, tops, tunics, and jackets so I moved on to eBay to start shopping!

While the brand is familiar, I don’t know much about Laurence Kazar so I did some more sleuthing and found that the company was dissolved in 1994 and was in business for about 30 years. It was likely owned by a bigger company that added a real designer’s name to the label which is common practice to market a brand as chic!

Even though Laurence was not a real person, the brand’s sequined and beaded pieces are real eye candy! I’m looking for a colorful cropped jacket from the brand as well as a mini dress! I’ve always wanted a Judith Ann Caftan but they are sooo pricey, I’m going to have to settle for a crop jacket! I love the idea of wearing the jacket over a tee and jeans (my fave way to style something extra glam is with some vintage denim). I’m also shopping for a mini dress to wear to a winter wedding later this year, but I think a colorful tank dress would be a good option for a summer wedding or cocktail party!

As a sizing note, the jacket I tried on at the flea market was marked a size Medium so I’d say it runs about 1 size smaller than modern sizing. I’ve also included some other brands because there are SO many good pieces out there!
