The Shopping List No. 53: Summer Trends but Make It Vintage

Another season, another trends list, but I’m so glad that this summer we’re going to see lots of color and shy away from some of the horrible microtrends from seasons past. I’m excited that many of the trends are typically on my shopping list (and in my closet), so I can easily pull together a look that’s fresh even though I’ve worn many times. While I’m not big on trends, I do love getting inspiration from the runway and replicating looks. I’m currently very inspired by Ralph Lauren so stay tuned for some content focused on this soon!

Shimmer & Shine

Lame, sequins and beads! I’m sourcing so many pieces for clients who are looking for something “fun” for summer cocktail parties and weddings. The best part is many of these can be reworn for the holidays at the end of the year with some boots and fur jackets.

Boho

The latest collection from Chloe put Boho back on everyone’s radar but I think my vintage inclined friends have been collecting pieces with crochet, fringe, and lots of flow. I love this “trend” because it works year round – when the weather cools just layer with a blazer or sweater.

Statement Belts

This is nothing new for our crowd because we love a statement belt, but you’ll be seeing it everywhere this summer! I love a statement belt styled with a boho or sheer dress, or pulling together some 90s era basics!

Sheer Layers

There was a lot of see through happening on the runway this season and while I love a sheer moment, I love layering and playing with multiple sheer pieces. Crochet and lace are easy to layer without showing off too much skin, and I always love a dramatic sheer robe thrown over a slip dress or jeans.

90s Redux

The 90s have had a strong hold on us over the last few years and while many forecasters are looking at 90s basics, I tend to skew toward the more maximalist pieces from the era.
