Newsflash! I really love wearing vintage pajamas and lingerie out and about. IKYKYK They make the best separates during the summer months and beyond. You really can’t beat the cut, silhouette and detailing of a 1930s silk slip – imagine the looks you’ll be serving at holiday parties in that getup! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite vintage lingerie pieces that you can style, plus I’m sharing links to how I style these looks.
Vintage Slips
Vintage slips vary in price greatly! Generally speaking, slips from 30s-40s or earlier tend to be on the pricier side. However, if you’re looking for a more modern fit, then go with Victoria’s Secret slips from the 80s and 90s which you can find for less than $40.
Here are some styling tips if you’re new to vintage slips:
Layer Up – if the slip is very sheer, then layer up with another slip or wear a tee under it to give it a 90s feel. In the winter months, I like to style my slips with a chunky sweater and boots.
Dye Job – the easiest way to refresh a stained slip is to give it a dye job, whether you dye it a solid color or get creative with tie dye techniques. Check out this post for tie dye tips.
Chop it Up – many of you love the Missoni set I have which is a rework of a Missoni dress. A good tailor can take a dress and rework it into a top and skirt set. This is great option if you don’t love the length of the slip or want to make sure changes to the overall silhouette.

Vintage Bed Jackets & Robes
Vintage bed jackets and robes will be your favorite layering piece if you don’t already have one in your closet! Robes look great over slip dresses and they make the perfect combo for date night or a cocktail party (see look here). A silk bed jacket has been on my eBay saved searches for a while! I love these over a tee and jeans, just to add that bit of extra that you want with a casual look. Add some gaudy gold earrings and you are ready! If you’re looking for a lightweight jacket in pretty pastel colors, then search for a quilted bed jacket. Dior has some really great vintage quilted jackets and house coat with CD embroidery.

Vintage Tap Shorts
Tap shorts are a bit more of a commitment, IMO, but still a great way to rework vintage undies into daily wear. I have a pair of peach tap shorts with lace trim that look great with lightweight sweaters and button downs. In the summer months, they are perfect with a silk camisole but I actually love the juxtaposition with something with a bit of weight.
