Ikebana is the art of Japanese flower arrangement. With ikebana, it’s not just about the plants, but also the container and even space not occupied by flowers. Because of the emphasis on symmetry, natural materials, and geometric shapes, ikebana vases are incredibly unique and why I love to collect them. I don’t use them as vases, instead I display them as a work of art – because that is exactly what they are!
While you can find new ikebana inspired vases at big box retailers and fast fashion retails (ugh even Zara is on the vintage home decor trend), vintage is always the way to go.
