A Tropical Champagne and Sweets Brunch
Beverly Hills What A Thrill! If this does not bring on some major Troop Beverly Hills memories, then we can’t be friends! I kid (only a little)! Growing up, it was one of my favorite movies and I loved Phillis Neffler’s confidence and obvious sense of style. In a way, that movie has informed my own sense of unapologetic style and introduced me to one of my favorite places in Los Angeles – the Beverly Hills Hotel. I love the landscaping and tropical-inspired pink and green decor that will never get old. I was recently thinking about a fun Valentine’s Day concept and I thought of a few of my favorite things: champagne, sweet, and palm leaves. I knew right away that I wanted to bring together some of my favorite creatives to bring to life a beautiful brunch concept.
Brunch Decor
Whenever you’re planning a themed party, decor is always so important! My friend Charmain of Emblem Flowers designed these beautiful arrangements which brought together the tropical inspired fete. I asked her for a bright, tropical arrangement worthy of the Beverly Hills Hotel and SHE DELIVERED. Jody of My Baby Olive Juice wrote the menu for the party on a large monstera leaf and then handmade the beautiful watercolor place cards. #imean #icant. These ladies took the party concept and made it a reality. For the table settings, I used a mix of my vintage glassware and accessories, plus my go-to white modern china.
Champagne
Technically a sparkling wine, I love Sophia Blanc de Blanc. Not only is it a light sparkling wine with elegant flair, it is also gift-wrapped in pink cellophane style evoking a peony. This makes it perfect for a girls’ brunch and pairs nicely with light desserts and sweets. I always keep a bottle of it chilling in our fridge for a last minute gift or get together at our place. When it comes to serving cocktails or wine at a party, I always use my barcart as the serving station. It helps break up any crowding by the food station and sitting areas, but also serves as a focal point for the party.
Sweets
If you’re looking for your favorite food blogger, then look no further than Leah of FreutCake. Leah’s recipes are simple, yet delicious and oh so pretty! Leah made delicious strawberry cupcakes with champagne buttercream for the branch. They were so good we literally had to tell Alan to stop eating them while we were shooting pictures. The cupcakes paired perfectly with the Sophia champagne and I am not embarrassed to admit that I had this duo for lunch and dinner (while Alan had it for breakfast). Head over to Leah’s blog for the delish recipe. I made sure to top off the cake with a dose of sugar, thanks to my friend Amber.
Guests
I’m my mother’s daughter and I love to host parties any time of the year. I love to think of any reason to have friends over, make some food, and pop open a bottle of wine. It’s just in my DNA. With hostessing duties comes friends who love to party – wine, dine, and laugh. Whenever I host a party, I love to invite friends from different circles so I can introduce my favorite people, but also to keep the conversation exciting!
What to Wear
As a hostess what you wear does matter – trust me! If you’re throwing a themed fete, then dressing the part is half the battle! I love to wear something comfortable but with tons of personality! I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t wear one of my vintage garbs and throw on some accessories. Next time you’re planning a party, think about what you’re wearing when you come up with the theme or concept.
